Now that genetic testing is more reasonable than ten years ago, I am a bit in shock that there is funded research on when a woman should be advised to be tested for BRCA. It is basic breast 101 if you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer you should consider being tested for BRCA. What I find incomprehensible is the fact that as women we are never asked about these tests. We go to the gynecologist every year (if we have access) and they don't talk about BRCA or ovarian cancer. I go to the dermatologist and they have never mentioned the link with skin cancer and melanoma. The eye doctor looked at me like I had two heads when I asked her to check for eye melanoma because of BRCA. When my father went for prostate cancer follow-up, they flat out told him they don't recommend BRCA testing at the time of prostate cancer diagnosis. So basically if you have a family history of breast, ovarian, melanoma, Fallopian tube, pancreatic or prostate cancer, you should demand the BRCA test so that you can be proactive with detection. I.E, you don't need to read this article unless you want to get your undies in a bunch like me (the link is here).

THE WINGS PROJECT
The Wings Project is the first initiative of the emerging Center for Interconnection—created around a simple belief:
We need to reconnect.
With ourselves.
With each other.
With nature.
With the Earth.
Wings grew from our own experiences with change, cancer, creativity, sisterhood, and the slightly wild belief that even after life changes us, we can grow new wings.
OUR FIRST COLLECTION
The Healing Scarf
Designed by us around the five elements:
△ Fire
▽ Water
△̶ Wind / Air
▽̶ Earth
○ Spirit
Each element is an invitation to reconnect—with your body, your environment, your emotions, and yourself.
The scarves are created by us and printed in Kenya in partnership with a women-owned printing business.
They are made for your best days and your most difficult days.
You are strong. You are not alone. You will survive.
The Wings Journal
This journal is, quite literally, our brain dump.
A place to write, draw, color, question, breathe, reflect—or occasionally write absolutely nothing.
Throughout the journal, the five elements appear as gentle reminders to reconnect.
Hidden at the beginning in Morse code is a message:
Butterflies grow new wings.
Its meaning is revealed at the end.
Because sometimes you don't understand what a transformation means until you've lived through it.
The Healing Hat
This one comes from Meg's wicked skills.
We hope you never have to go through chemotherapy.
But if you do, we hope this hat keeps you warm.
And perhaps reminds you that someone, somewhere, was thinking about you when they made it.
EXPERIENCE THE ELEMENTS
Wings isn't only something you read or wear.
Through QR experiences within the journal, we're beginning to connect the physical objects with small practices that encourage you to pause, experience, and reconnect.

🔥 FIRE — CONNECT
Heart Connection
Fire can warm us, energize us, and transform us. It can also remind us when we need to soften.
Scan the QR code for a quiet heart-connection practice to calm your inner fire and create space for healing.
Feel the warmth. Find your center. Let yourself soften.

Feel the Sun
Step outside.
Feel the sun on your back.
Pause for a moment and notice its warmth.
How does the warmth connect you to your spirit?
No phone. No instructions. No right answer.
Just you and the sun.
WHY WINGS?
Wings is more than a collection of things.
It's our first experiment in interconnection.
We want to explore whether something as simple as a scarf, a journal, a breath, a handmade hat, or five minutes in the sun can help someone feel a little more connected—to themselves and to the world around them.
Proceeds from this first pilot will help generate seed funding for the Center for Interconnection and allow us to learn what resonates before building something bigger.
And this is only the beginning.
Today it's a scarf.
A journal.
A hat.
A breath.
A little sunshine.
Tomorrow, we hope Wings becomes something much larger: a community built around connection, healing, creativity, nature, and the idea that transformation doesn't have to happen alone.
Butterflies grow new wings.
Maybe we can too.
